@jasmine just immediately before my egg cracked, I had married a trans woman who is a trans studies professorā¦so I think I was less transphobic than the vast majority of cis people. š¤
I think I was always less transphobic and homophobic than the people around me - but because I grew up in a conservative church in Nebraska, there was still some transphobia and homophobia I had internalized. I also cringe now for saying some biphobic things to a bi friend as late as 2013. But I started really working on things and studying feminism, and grew a lot those next few years. Just a few years later I would start dating my wife, who is trans. It was a process to learn and grow, but I think I was more open than some to it.
