The heroes' journey is a central component of mythical and modern stories. Often represented as a circle, it represents a journey in the literal sense - a foray through the dangers of the forest and back again, as humans have done for food and water, quite literally almost every day since long before we were human at all.

But also it represents a figurative journey, in which the hero is changed - undone and then reformulated - by their experiences. 1/
