What I love the most about creating stories or games, the reason I keep trying despite not having an audience (or even wanting one), is the point where enough pieces fit together that the work becomes its own thing, not just mental masturbation. There's a shape to it that I'm discovering more than creating, and it's satisfying to help bring it to life, set it loose, and let it have an existence independent of me.

... It's like abandoning a puppy on the roadside to make room for the next one.
