Interesting climate piece published on Detroit Free Press, which discusses recent cold weather conditions in parts of US.
The point is that we still get freaked out by colder weather each winter season, and notwithstanding that each winter is now far milder and shorter than preceding ones.
That is to say we're frogs in a pot of boiling water, i.e. climate collapse is unfolding at a rate just slow enough whereby humans have no real species memory of what, say, winters were like 60 years ago let alone longer than that
